Walter Campbell McLean was born on 16 September 1907 at Sandhead, Wigtownshire. He married Mary Nelson on 2 December 1932 at Sandhead. At the time of their marriage, Walter (age 25) was a Creamery Worker. He lived with his parents at Sandhead Farm, where his father was the Overseer. Mary was a Shop Assistant from Sandhead village. By the time of their daughter Kathleen’s marriage in 1969, Walter was Manager of the Sandhead Creamery.

Walter Campbell McLean died, age 66, in 1974. Mary died in 1990. age 79.
