Private William Shaw ( Army Number 25743) served with the 12th Battalion Royal Scots in World War 1.
He was killed on 31 May 1918, age 19, and is interred at Ebblinghem Military Cemetery (Grave Reference I.F. 13). His next of kin is given as’ brother of Mrs Jean Traynor, 326 South York Street, Glasgow’. Willie’s parents, Jane and William had passed away in 1912 and 1914 respectively.
(Ebblinghem is a village halfway between St. Omer and Hazebrouck. (Nord, France). The cemetery was begun by the 2nd and 15th Casualty Clearing Stations, who came to Ebblinghem in April 1918 at the beginning of the German offensive. It was used until July. The Cemetery contains 441 Commonwealth burials).
