In1915,  a shop at 7 Cross Wynd is listed with Fortunato Snr.  as its owner.  His son, Umberto is listed as the owner of the same business in the Pre WW2 Censimento. Umberto died in 1959.

It is not known when Vernolini’s ceased training, nor precisely when Giacomo’s was established across the Wynd by the Watters family.

What is certain is that In 2016 Mark Watters retired after being at the helm of the popular  cafe for nearly 40 years; having  taken it over from his parents.

Cafe Giacomo.  had been in his family  for more than 60 years.

The owners of ‘Just Greek Food’ (Sonia and Entmont Gerco), a takeaway on Pilmuir Street, plan to open a GreekTaverna on the site.
