David was born on 7 JUL 1792 in Lochanhill, Maybole, the son of John McCreath and Agnes Lochead.
His wife was Janet Martin, who he married on 16 DEC 1816 in Paisley. Their six known children were Janet (1819-?), David (1821-1901), Robert (1823-?), Agnes (1825-?), Matthew (1827-<1841) and Helen (1829-1898).
