Thomas was born in 1833 in Ireland, the son of John Shaw and Mary Smith.
He died on 21 OCT 1884 in Templeton Place, Auchinleck.
His wife was Margaret Strickland, who he married on 16 AUG 1853 in Bangor. Their three known children were James (1855-?), Jane (1858-?) and William Bain (1861-1914).
