His wife was Margaret McIntyre, who he married on 9 MAR 1871 in North Leith, Edinburgh. Their six known children were James(Jim) (1873-1880), Joh (?-?), Me (?-?), Nel (?-?), Ev (?-?) and Alexander (1890-1979).
