The Sir John Maxwell School building is unique for several reasons, including:

• its intrinsic design

• its core place as as one of the few historic public buildings of the former Burgh.(See the Pollokshaws Heritage Trail produced by Paul O’Cuinn on behalf of the Pollokshaws Heritage Group).

• its relationship with the Maxwell family as generous local land benefactors,

  • its claimed historical links with one of Glasgow’s prominent socialist activists, and

• its position in the evolution of Glasgow’s educational organisation and administration.

WHAT STEPS CAN AND HAVE BEEN TAKEN TO SAVE THE BUILDING?
