Sculptor: Kenny Hunter

Date: 2004

Location: Cumberland Street

Description:

The 6ft Girl, standing on a plinth, depicts a woman who may be coming, or going, and is symbolic of the nature of the Gorbals

The historical ebb and flow of immigrants gave the area its unique character.

The sculptor said of his work: “She is in a real place, surrounded by real people, in a residential street that is part of the new Gorbals, but sits within sight and sound of the old.”
