Description:
In 2000 the Glasgow’s first Days Inn was built in the heart of the Gorbals. The building also housed the student residences for Glasgow College of Nautical Studies based nearby.
The brief was to design a sculpture with a nautical theme. Instead of the usual boats or sails the artist decided upon this beautifu -l piece the sea lettuce, a type of coral. The coral sculpture fulfils the marine aspect of the brief whilst complimenting the curved building beautifully.
