Glasgow City Council Pre -12 Strategy Phase 1

In session 2004/2005, Glasgow City Council opened six new complexes containing a range of Pre5, Primary and Special Educational Needs schools. These were:

Haghill Park Primary,

415 Cumbernauld Road, G31 3LS

Keppoch Campus,

Castleton Primary,

70 Dougrie Road, G45 9NW

Lourdes Primary,

150 Berryknowes Road, G52 2DE

In 1999 the Council entered into negotiation with Safeway Stores plc with a view to Safeway securing the site of Lourdes Primary School and Craigton Nursery School for a new food store in return for the provision of a new purpose-built facility. Following public consultation on the proposals, it was agreed that the capital receipt from the sale of the site to Safeway would be used to fund the construction and fitting out of the replacement primary including a nursery class and 3 new nursery classes in nearby schools. The total cost of construction was £6.87m and the new school was opened for pupils in April 2004. The 3 additional nursery classes were opened in January 2004.
