Mary Robertson was born in Glasgow in 1913.
She lived at Linburn Road, Penilee and was a Supervisor at the nearby Macdonalds Biscuit Factory in Hillington Estate.
The photograph shows Mary Roberston in her supervisory role on the Glengarry biscuit packaging line.
Supervisors, known as redcaps, wore distinguishing red turbans.
Mary Robertson died on 23 July 1979.

William Macdonald & Sons (Biscuits) Ltd.
In 1920 William Macdonald, a traveller for several biscuit manufacturers, set up as a food commissioning agent. In 1927 he acquired a factory for the chocolate coating of biscuits and in 1932 created the renowned ‘Penguin’
From the late 1930s at Hillington Industrial Estate in Glasgow, the company produced ‘Penguins’, ’Munchmallows’, ‘Yo-Yo’s’ and ‘Bandits. It also made shortcake ‘Glengarry’ biscuits .
In 1965 Macdonald’s became part of the United Biscuits conglomerate.
(Two Scottish biscuit manufacturers McVittie & Price and Macfarlane Lang merged in 1948 to become United Biscuits. Both businesses continued to trade under their own names).
The Hillington factory was closed in 1970 with the loss of nearly 500 jobs.
