Throughout Scotland there once were hundreds of family-run Italian cafes and fish and chip shops.  Sadly, these are all too quickly disappearing. This is an attempt to try to highlight those remaining businesses and to document  those that have disappeared.

Whether in industrial city or seaside town fond memories remain of the omnipresent cafe or fish restaurant.  There is a real danger that the details of this unique (though far from sole) Italian contribution to Scotland’s cultural heritage will be lost unless it is documented.

This is an attempt to help record some of the images and stories and to act as ‘post box’ for others.

The entries are listed by Scottish location using as an index the Old Shires of Scotland.

There are two sections:

Extant Businesses.

Defunct Businesses.
