John McLean was born on 7 February 1869 at Auchleach, Stoneykirk. He was Dairyman.
He married Martha Knox Hewes on 15 November 1892 at Barnchalloch, Stoneykirk.
John and Martha had six of a family, all born at Stoneykirk.

In 1911 the family was resident at Awhirk. The Census of that year also records John’s parents, William and Charlotte resident at Awhirk, presumably independently in the farm cottage, with William then 72, helping out on the farm.
John Todd McLean died at Ardvhor, Stranraer on 20 June 1944.
