Alexander (Sandy) McLean was born on 11 December 1891 at Camrie Farm, Old Luce.
He married Barbara Jane McQueen on 14 March 1919 at Newton Stewart. Sandy’s place of residence at the time of his marriage is given as Toronto. A Commission Agent, he was then serving with the Canadian Expeditionary Force, attached to the 15th Battalion of the 1st Canadian Division. Barbara was a Professional Pianist living at Dashwood Square, Newton Stewart. His Attestation Paper for the C.E F is dated 19 September 1914. It states that James had previously served for 5 months with the 3rd Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers.
Sandy and Barbara had two children:

Flora MacDonald McLean born 1922. Toronto. Flora died in 1935, Toronto.
