Many of the factual and biographical details of this branch of the family were supplied by Robert Nelson McLean (born 1937) – a grandson of Walter and Emma.
Walter McLean and Emma Campbell had seven children – 5 boys and two girls.

2. James McLean born 1902. Unmarried
3. Emma McLean born 1904. Married Alexander Nisbet.
4. Walter Campbell McLean born 1907. Married Mary Nelson.
5. William (Bill) McLean born 1910. Married Sarah McKnight.
6. John(Jock) McLean born1913. Married Mary Killan Torrance.
7. Alexander McLean born1918. Married Elizabeth Bryson.
All but one, John (Jock) McLean, remained in Wigtownshire. James alone did not marry. Mary Minton McLean married Robert Erskine and Emma McLean marrried Alexander Nisbet. Both daughters and their spouses are interred at Stoneykirk.
