John Thom McCreath was born on 12 February 1896 in Ayr. He was a Piano Tuner. In 1913, at the age of 17 Years and 9 months, John enlisted in the Territorial Army (Ayrshire Royal Horse Artllery), for a four year term. No details known of his War Service.
In 1924 he travelled to Montreal on board the SS Athenia in 1924 with the stated intention of settling in Canada.
In the event he ended up in Coventry, England. He married Freda Connie McCreath (1904-1985, maiden name unknown). They had three children:

Jock passed away on 7 November 2012. He was survived by Doris, his three children, their spouses and eleven grandchildren.
Doris passed away on 18 December 2016.
