Thomas McCreath, the second child of the family of James McCreath and Margaret Hannah to be so named, was born about 1808. Thomas was a Master Joiner to trade. He married Elizabeth Thom on 19 January 1835 at Dalrymple.
Thomas and Elizabeth had 10 children, two of whom did not survive infancy:
• Isabella McCreath born 31 August 1835, Boghall, Dalrymple. Died before 1841.
• Agnes McCreath born 17 March 1838, Boghall Dalrymple. No biographical details.
• Elizabeth McCreath born 3 August 1840, Dalrymple. No biographical details.
• James McCreath born 12 January 1843, Dalrymple. Married Janet Melville (Jessie) Paton.
• Robert McCreath born about 1845, Dalrymple. Married Jessie Walker Hill.
• Margaret McCreath born 29 July 1847, Dalrymple. Married Rob Watson.
• Mary McCreath born 16 April 1850, Dalrymple. Married Robert Bone
• Thomas Thom McCreath born 17 December 1852, Dalrymple. Married Jane (Jeanie) Reid.
• Catherine McCreath born March 1859. Died 21 December 1859. Pleasantfield by Ayr.
Isabella’s birth is recorded in the Dalrymple Parish Register. She is not recorded in the 1841 Census, implying her death in infancy.
Thomas died on 29 January 1859, two months before the birth of his youngest daughter.
