Thomas (Tom) McCreath was born in March 1889 in Liverpool.

Tom McCreath died of wounds received at the Somme.

A Sergeant (5267) in the 20th Battalion Royal Fusiliers, he died on Monday 24 July 1916.

He was unmarried.

In civilian life he was an inventor.  He made his mother a bicycle-driven washing machine, and later a security lock for sash windows and a device to prevent bren guns exploding.  Ironically, the design was not taken up by the Army and later it was this very accident that killed Tom.

He is buried at Heilly Station Cemetery, Mericourt-L’Abbe, Somme, France.
