Colfin Creamery was built in 1919 by United Creameries Ltd at Colfin Station on the LMS branch line between Stranraer and Portpatrick. The single platform station had despatch facilities  for churn and rail tanker, and the creamery the necessary reception, separation and refrigeration equipment.  The creamery had storage for 800 cheeses. It employed 16 regular staff and two seasonal staff, and had a piggery attached.

The station was closed on 6 February 1950, though freight service between Colfin Creamery and Stranraer continued until 1 April 1959, when it finally closed.

For a time it housed The Colfin Smokehouse.

From 2016, following major refurbishment, it has been transformed into an award-winning restaurant.
