Giovanni didn’t come directly from Italy to Scotland. He was born in the USA and   moved here from Buffalo around the turn of the 20th Century.

He was married in Italy before settling in Fife.

Two of his 10 children, Jimmy and Terezina (Ena), later ran his Shore Street shop.

Today the Anstruther Fish Bar is not just famous for its award-winning seafood.

Brattesan’s ice-cream is still made daily in-house using Giovanni’s original recipe.
