Back in Belmonte again!
Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting Christian Santangeli, the son of one of our neighbours.
A charming and jovial young man, Christian, the owner of Hamlets Fish Bar in Dover, Kent, is home on holiday.
A consummate entrepreneur, he cooks haggis for discerning (mainly Scottish) clients; and also a delicacy unknown, to my knowledge, in Scotland – ‘Sheppey Suppers’. Sheppey is short for ‘deep-fried battered shepherd pies’.
Maybe our, oft-ridiculed unhealthy Scottish fast food Mores are not as unique as we are led to believe!
Christian’s choice of workplace is also a reminder that the Italian diaspora is a world wide and not solely a Scottish phenomenon.
