Sergeant Joseph Graham McCreath (Service No. 2584724) was in North West Europe in December 1944 with the Royal Corps of Signals.
The pith helmet photo taken by Guerra and Sons, locates him in April 1948 in Mhow – a training centre for the Indian Army (which included in WW2 the Signal Training School). Joe sent this photo home to his mother with a hand-written note on the back: ‘Don’t let the minister have this for his album, Joe”.
Mhow, is a cantonment in the Indore district in Madhya Pradesh state of India. It is located 23 kilometres south-west of Indore city, towards Mumbai.
It is possible that your Joe was part of the British Army of Occupation of the Rhine, as was my Dad.
Some Signal service-men from BOAR were posted to Mhow to train cadets. Could Joe have been one of them? HIs Service Record would provide a definitive answer.
