Victoria Cafe, Govanhill

1935 Pompilio Barsi ? at the shop-front

Pre WW2, the Victoria Cafe was owned by  Pompilio Barsi.

By the 1960s the cafe and adjacent corner premises had become The Pandora Bar – a one-time, favoured pre-match ‘watering-hole ‘ for the Tartan Army’.

By 2020. Locavore had occupied the site.

This social enterprise is the only shop in Glasgow with a commitment to changing and re-educating the way we shop for food.

Locavore  supplies local, sustainably-grown, food with produce  from their farm just outside  Glasgow.

Zero waste is on the agenda too. At Locavore,  you can bring along your own reusable containers and buy stuff in bulk, free from the unnecessary packaging.

There’s a little in-store café in there as well, serving coffees, soups and sandwiches made from their products

The coloured close tiles have remained the same since 1935!
