Peter Haggart and Elizabeth Sutherland had five surviving children. Son, Peter, died at birth.
• Isabella Haggart married Peter Kelly. They resided in Stirling. They had one known son, Peter.
• Duncan Haggart, a Cloth Lapper, married Jane Wordie Wilson in 1919. My mother knew the couple as ‘Dunc’ and ‘Big Jean’.
Duncan’s job was to clean the the cotton fibres before they were fed into a ‘carding machine’ prior to spinning. They had one known daughter, Agnes McDougall Haggart. At the time of her birth the family was resident at 20 Avenue Park. Agnes married Dugald Campbell. To date no offspring have been found. She is recorded as the informant on her father’s death certificate. Her address (in 1975) was given as 26 Ancaster Square, Callander.
• Robert Haggart, Duncan’s twin, ( known to my mother as ‘Rab’) married Helen Agnes Mclean (known as ‘Nellie’) at Station Road, Dunblane in 1928. Usual residence was given as 24 Avenue Park. His occupation is given simply as ‘Millworker’. Was this Airthrey Mill or another of the 10 or so mills to be found at the time along the River Allan between Bridge of Allan and Dunblane. Might it even have been Springfield Mill (beside the Laighills, Dunblane – given that Helen’s parent’s home was at 5 Well Place, Dunblane.
They two children, Peter Haggart (born 1930) and Ann Haggart (Born?) Peter married Catherine Hutchison Watson. They had a daughter, Mary Watson Haggart, who married married a Charles McNeil. It is believed that Peter may be resident in Stirling.
• Ann Burns Haggart. (known as Annie) married James Anderson Robertson, a Textile Worker in 1931. They had a son, James A Robertson. James was was the informant on his mother’s death certificate. At that time (1986) his place of residence was 2 Cawder Gardens. My mother confirmed that this was the case; the Robertson’s garden backing on to that of my grandmother at 22 Cawder Road.
