William Rintoul Haggart (1906 -1983) married Christina McGregor Paterson.

William Rintoul Haggart and Christina PATERSON  were married in The Manse at Lecropt. William began life as ploughman and in due course was employed as a Grieve (Farm Manager).  As was the norm with this kind of life, the family lived in various locations in the shadow of the Ochil Hills – Tillicoultry (when their daughter, Catherine, was born) and Tullibody (at the time of William’s death).

Sole  child of this marriage: Catherine McGregor Haggart (born 1935)

My mother knew the couple as ‘Uncle Will’ and ‘Aunt Chris’. As schoolgirls, she and her sister, Hetty, spent two or three weeks of the summer holidays at Harvieston Farm; one of the many on which Will worked. She recalls pushing Baby Catherine in the pram all the way to Dollar to fetch the weekly shopping. She also remembers, in the early days of their marriage, her uncle and aunt residing in a cottage at Sherrifmuir.  Her own father had acquired a huge, in all likelihood ex-army, bell-tent.  They camped close to Will and Chris’s  cottage – where they went for fresh water. The adventure was shared with their Coneyhill neighbours – the Lewis family.

Catherine married James Carney MORRIS, a ‘Yarn Spinning Overlooker’ and had one known child – James Morris. At the time (1961) they were resident in Alva.
