Agnes McCreath (c.1823- 1882) married John Hutchison (??-1878)

Agnes McCreath was born on 16 February 1882 at Maybole, Ayrshire.

She married John Hutchison, a farmer at Creechan, Kirkmaiden, Wigtownshire. The farm comprised 360 acres and employed 8 labourers and 3 boys.

In 1891, James W Hutchison (aged 35) was farming at Low Drummore. His sisters, Jane (aged 38) and Mary (aged 32) and his brother Andrew (aged 34) were also working on the farm.

John Hutchison  married Helen Cochrane in 1884. He was a Draper in Mancheter. Before 1901 John had returned to farm Low Drummore.  Jane and Andrew were also working the farm.

John had retired from farming by 1911. He (56),  and his wife, Helen (50); their son, William C Hutchison (age 6); his brother, Andrew and sister Mary Agnes, were living at Seabank, Kirkmaiden.

In 1911, James Hutchison was a labourer at Low Curghie Farm.

There is a headstone in Kirkmaiden Churchyard erected by Agnes in memory of her husband, John. The names of  four siblings were also added to the inscription.
