Thomas McCreath and Janet Raeside were my great-great-great grandparents. They were married at Kirkmichael in 1803.

Baptisms of their children reveal that Thomas McCreath was a stone mason, first in Ayr (1808-1813) and later in Kirkmichael (1815-1819).  According to the 1851 Census, the youngest children were born in Kilmarnock indicating a move there in 1819.

In 1861 Janet, a ‘Pirn Winder’ (age 72), was resident at 54 Titchfield Street, Kilmarnock; with her  unmarried daughter, Elizabeth (34), a seamstress. Janet was pre-deceased by her husband, Thomas.

Janet died at 53 Glencairn Street, Kilmarnock on 26 April 1867. Her eldest son, Thomas registered her death.

Thomas and Janet had 10 children.
