Andrew James McCreath married Eunice May Haywood about 1905. They settled in Subiaco, a suburb of Perth, W.A. Andrew was a butcher, owning his own shop. He was fond of music and played the accordion. He died of heart disease in 1912, after only seven years of marriage. His daughter, Jean, was only two and son, Colin Andrew, one. After Andrew’s death, Eunice trained as a nurse and went into partnership with her sister Susan Smith (ms Haywood) in a private hospital in West Perth.

Eunice died in 1919 – a victim of the ‘Spanish Flu’ epidemic.  Her sister Sue looked after the children. She took the children on a visit to Ballarat to meet their grandparents David and Jane McCreath.
