From The Mirror, 28 December 2007: “An ice cream heiress described by friends as “quietly generous” has left her entire estate to charity.

Olivia Pelosi, whose fortune came from her family’s ice cream parlour business, gave pounds 3million to 36 good causes.

They include cancer research, children’s charities, religious organisations and disability groups.

Jean MacDonald, her friend for over 20 years, said: “It was typical of her. She was always warm, generous and very devout.”

Unmarried Miss Pelosi, from Perth, was a retired secretary who had worked for PM Anthony Eden.

Her parents ran Italian ice cream shops in Perth, Kinross and Pitlochry.”
