The obituary reads:

“Following a short illness death on March 31 removed another highly respected citizen of Cobourg in the person of Thomas Kirk Shaw who for the past 30 years has been a resident of the town. Mr Shaw was born in Scotland and for a number of years worked at the Ontario Hospital here.

Mr Shaw served in France during the Great War and on his return became a member of the Cobourg Post of the Canadian Legion. He took an active part in the work of the organisation and was much interested in the work it is carrying out among veterans.

Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs Long of Cobourg, and McCreary, of Winnipeg, and three sons, James and William of Cobourg, and Thomas of Fort Hope.  Four sisters and three brothers also survive.

The funeral was held from his late residence, Fourth Street, last Thursday afternoon under military auspices.  The pallbearers were Messrs. Perfect, Marshall, Roy Service, Jack Huckye, Douglas Glenn and Hugh Young. The services were conducted by Rev. J. B. Rhodes.”
