John McCreath, a farmer at Fisherton, Dunure married Jane Smith on 20 February 1818 at Ayr. They had 11 children. In the absence of records, the birth order below is not definitive, having been adduced from death certificates, the 1861, 1881, 1891 and 1901 censuses.
Jane, the mother, died before 1861. Her husband, John, lived to be one hundred.
The family comprised 1 son and 10 daughters. The son, John, did not marry though six of his sisters did.

John McCreath (c. 1837-1883). John died on 15 January 1883. Unmarried. Curiously, he is described as having “No Occupation”
Eliza McCreath (c.1839- 1918).
