John McCreath was born on 11 April 1835. He was a Shoemaker to trade. He married Agnes Andrew. The couple had one known son, Robert McCreath, born about 1862.
Robert McCreath married Catherine (Kate) Grieve born about 1866. Robert and Catherine had four children:

(3) Agnes McCreath born 10 November 1892, Maybole. Married Thomas Gavin
(4) William McCreath born 21 January 1903.
William married Margaret Haddow Frame on 16 July 1937. One son, Alan William McCreath born 14 November 1948, Ayrshire Central; married (i) Margaret Jean Neil (1949-1979) on 23 July 1976 at Prestwick and (ii) Elizabeht Margaret Nelson on 28 May 1981 at Lanark. One son, Aaron William McCreath born 19 February 1982 at Ayr.
Catherine Grieve died , age 67, on 18 April 1934, at County Hospital, Ayr (usual residence The Knowe Dunure). Her son Robert was the informant – Front Row, Dunure. Catherine married John Gibson after her husband Robert’s death. He too was a fisherman.
