Alexander McCreath married Mary McKechnie at Calton, Glasgow on 17 July 1862. Like his father, Alexander was Slater to trade. He died of Consumption, age 42, at Oban on 23 November 1878. Mary also died at Oban , age 46, on 30 August 1879.
They had four children:
Alexander James McCreath born 24 October 1867, Hutchesontown, Glasgow. Died, age 14 months, on 21 December 1869, Oban.
James McCreath born 24 October 1868, Hutchesontown, Glasgow. No biographical information found.
Mary Margaret McEachnie McCreath born 2 September 1872, Appin. Married John Crawford.
