McCREATH, Harriette Cary Shatford
Of Toronto, passed away on June 9, 2009. Born in Halifax in 1921, she was the only child of the late Lionel and Rose (Cary) Shatford. An outstanding scholar, early in her career, she was a singer, dancer and teacher. In 1940, she married Peter L. McCreath, then a serving officer in the Royal Canadian Artillery. She devoted the remainder of her life to her family. She was a friend to all who knew her. She also was a lover of cats, especially her special pal, Cami, who spent the last decade at her side. She was predeceased by her husband and her daughter, Diana Heather Allabach. She is survived by her sons, Peter (Judy) of Hubbards, Nova Scotia, and Andrew (Judy) of Toronto, as well as by her five grandchildren, Jennifer, Adam, Graham, Adrian and Penelope Jane. A memorial service will take place June 13 at 11 am at St. Georges-on-the-Hill Anglican Church, Islington, Ontario. In lieu of flowers (which she loved so much), donations may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association, or any charity of choice. The family wishes to thank the many caregivers, at home and in the various hospitals, her friends and neighbours, for their many loving kindness.
