Giulianotti’s of Stonehaven is a long-established family business. It was begun by Ernesto Giulianotti and his wife, Angela (ms Becci) in 1899.

When Ernesto, his wife and their three youngest children returned to Italy to live, the business was carried on by Angela’s brother Giuseppe (‘Joe Bei’) Becci and Ernesto’s oldest child, Carolina (Lena).

Today it is run by Ernesto’s great grand-daughter, Marjory Stephen,  making artisan ice creams, frozen yoghurts and sorbets in its vintage Sweetie Shop at Evan Street in the town centre.

Home to the Giulianotti clan was the village of Borgatoro, just outside Varna in Northern Italy).
