I was interested and pleased to discover that when entering ‘ McCreath Family’ on a Google search, ‘A McCreath Miscellany’ now appears as number 5 and number 6 in the listings. I was also interested to note that number 9 on the list was ‘McCreath family comes together for reunion- Berwick Advertiser’
This was a report published on 30 July 2017 of a gathering of the ‘Berwick Branch’ of the family earlier that month
Participants had travelled from all over the world to attend, including many from the United States.
The event was suggested by David McCreath and had been 18 months in the planning. An organising committee of four comprised Daniel Davidson (son of Susan Davidson, nee McCreath – daughter of Henry McCreath; Kate Slater (nee Gaye McCreath); Shirley McCreath (married to Nick McCreath) and Jane Thompson (daughter of Maggie Bates nee McCreath).
Some time ago, I had corresponded with two senior members of this branch, Geoffrey McCreath and Lesley McCreath. The latter sent me a copy of ‘The Old Tree’ from Harrisburg, USA. It is to my regret that, following their passing, I did not engage in follow-up correspondence with their respective families.
